Comfort Food Cookbook

"Comfort food" takes on a new meaning when an individual is undergoing cancer treatment. Nutrition becomes a major concern as one of the side effects of chemo is a decrease in appetite, or a change in the sense of taste. Food also offers emotional connections to family members and special occasions. It seems that almost everyone has a recipe that has been handed down from a relative. A cookbook can be a very special publication when the recipes are from loved ones who have been touched by cancer.

Cancer Patient Services has published such a cookbook and it can be purchased for $10.00 with proceeds to benefit CPS services. The cookbook is available for purchase at the following locations in Findlay:  Blanchard Valley Regional Cancer Center, George House and the CPS office.

Many of the recipes in the cookbook have been submitted in tribute to a cancer patient who has lost his or her battle with cancer or in honor of someone who has won the fight! The cookbook includes recipes in the categories of Appetizers & Beverages, Soups & Salads, Main Dishes, Breads & Rolls and Desserts.

Tamera Rooney, a local artist, chaired the cookbook committee. She asked local artists if they would allow the use of their "food-oriented" art to be used to illustrate the high-quality cookbook. The response was amazing and as a result, many pieces are featured on the tabs separating the categories in the book.
