MIND, BODY & SPIRIT
Complementary Services
Cancer Patient Services offers complementary services such as massage and Reiki services. As possible stress relieving services, they may help you cope with signs and symptoms caused by cancer and cancer treatments. Common signs and symptoms such as anxiety, fatigue, nausea and vomiting, pain, difficulty sleeping, and stress may be lessened by alternative treatments. Integrating the best of evidence-based complementary and alternative cancer treatments with the treatments you receive from your doctor may help relieve many of the symptoms associated with cancer and its treatment. Discuss all of your options with your doctor and together you can determine which strategies might work for you. |
Massage
Massage is a holistic complementary therapy which focuses on the whole person, not just the symptoms of the disease. Massage does not treat cancer itself but may help reduce the side effects caused by some treatments and may improve the quality of life and wellbeing. Massages are provided by Megan Claes, LMT |
Reiki
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation to promote healing. Reiki is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive.
How is Reiki Administered?
The fully clothed client lies on a treatment table or sits comfortably in a chair. Sessions may last for 15, 30 or 60 minutes. The practitioner may lay hands on the client or can hold hands just off the body if needed or desired.
